Aminoglycoside antibiotics moderately impair granulocyte function.

چکیده
By in vitro methods, five aminoglycoside antibiotics (amikacin, kanamycin, gentamicin, tobramycin, and netilmicin) were shown to produce modest changes in granulocyte adherence (increase) and migration (decrease) and no change in phagocytosis or nitroblue tetrazolium reduction.

Mechanism of resistance to aminoglycoside antibiotics in nebramycin-producing Streptomyces tenebrarius.
Streptomyces tenebrarius ISP 5477, which produces nebramycins, was highly resistant to the following aminoglycoside antibiotics: neamine, ribostamycin, butirosin A, neomycin B, paromomycin, kanamycin A, dibekacin, gentamicin C complex, lividomycin A, istamycin B and streptomycin. Polyphenylalanine synthesis on the ribosomes of this strain was highly resistant to neamine, ribostamycin, butirosin...
متن کاملSummaries for patients. Successful treatment of aminoglycoside-resistant endocarditis with ampicillin and ceftriaxone.
Almirante, and A. Pahissa. What is the problem and what is known about it so far? Endocarditis (infection of the inside the heart) is a fatal disease that requires prompt antibiotic therapy. Many different kinds of bacteria can cause endocarditis, including a bacterium known as Enterococcus faecalis (or E. faecalis). The American Heart Association recommends that E. faecalis endocarditis be tre...
متن کاملComparative ototoxicity of amikacin and gentamicin in cats.
The ototoxic potentials of two aminoglycoside antibiotics, amikacin and gentamicin, were compared in cats, using several otoxicity assessment techniques. Daily subcutaneous doses of 90 and 45 mg of amikacin per kg and 18 and 9 mg of gentamicin per kg (approximately six and three times the daily human dose) were administered to cats for extended periods of time until cochlear or vestibular dysfu...
متن کاملDetermination of aminoglycoside antibiotics in pharmaceuticals by capillary zone electrophoresis with indirect UV detection coupled with micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography.
Aminoglycoside antibiotics can be determined by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) with indirect UV detection in the anionic mode with a reversed electroosmotic flow (EOF) by addition of FC 135 to the background electrolyte. The effective mobilities of thirteen aminoglycoside antibiotics were determined as a function of pH. Applying CZE with indirect UV detection in the anionic mode and rever...
متن کاملComparative activity of tobramycin, amikacin, and gentamicin alone and with carbenicillin against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The effect of gentamicin against 130 clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa was compared with that of two investigational aminoglycoside antibiotics, tobramycin and amikacin. Minimal inhibitory concentration data indicated that, on a weight basis, tobramycin was two to four times as active as gentamicin against most isolates. However, 14 of 18 organisms highly resistant to gentamicin (>/=8...
